First of all, I remember John Mitchellas a member of the young people at Gravelhole Methodist chapel.

I attended Gravelhole from 1955 to 1965 my friend Melvyn Conlong and I started a youth club on Friday evenings around 1961. We began with a record player and 2 records (I think one of them was sung by Connie Francis) we charged 6 pence a week as subscription and used the proceeds to buy the latest pop releases. We very quickly attracted lots of regular members and our record collection grew (whatever happened to all those 45rpm discs? ) more importantly whatever happened to all those young people, must be between 68 - 75 by now.

Melvyn moved on to Oxford University and the youth club had it’s season..
